The John Wick spin-off series lands at Starz
Lionsgate’s plans for taciturn, turtlenecked domination made a little progress today, as Starz announced it’s teaming up with the production company on its proposed John Wick spin-off, The Continental. According to a press release issued during the TCA winter press tour, the series is set in the stark and deadly environs of the films that star Keanu Reeves as a dog-loving, arm-breaking, Russian-spouting assassin.
This is no mere prequel, though—The Continental will tell the stories of all the lethal lookers who seek refuge at the swanky hotel, though there’s no word on whether Ian McShane or Lance Reddick will class up the joint once more. Chris Collins, who worked on The Wire, Sons Of Anarchy, and The Man In The High Castle, has been named showrunner and will write the series, as well as executive produce it along with John Wick co-directors David Leitch and Chad Stahelski (the latter of whom flew solo on Chapter 2), franchise scribe Derek Kolstad, Thunder Road Pictures’ Basil Iwanyk, and of course, Keanu Reeves. Stahelski is also set to direct the premiere episode. The premiere date is not currently known.
