The LEGO Movie
The new full-length trailer for The LEGO Movie manages to find heart and humor in a world made of plastic bricks. Chris Pratt’s Emmet is an ordinary, upbeat LEGO mini-figure who lives in a world where “everything is awesome”—until he falls through a hole and gets mistaken as the “Special” meant to fulfill a prophecy and stop an evil mastermind. The trailer hits all the usual kid’s movie themes—destiny, bravery, the power of love—while also squeezing in a few original jokes from Batman and Abraham Lincoln. The voice cast includes Elizabeth Banks, Will Arnett, Will Ferrell, Morgan Freeman, and Liam Neeson, and while there’s certainly a chance this could be another action/pop-culture filled disappointment designed to sell more of the toys it was based on, it could also be next year’s Wreck-It Ralph. We'll find out after it hits theaters February 7, 2014.
