The Other Two’s Night Nurse to become actual movie not starring Cary Dubek
Mimi Rogers and Cemre Paksoy are all well and good, but wasn’t the Globby guy supposed to be in this one?
The Other Two’s pop-culture predictive prowess has struck again as another Other Two original will step outside the fictional realm and into our horrible reality. Night Nurse, the little indie film Cary Dubek (Drew Tarver) starred in after “hole storm”, is set to become an actual motion picture without Dubek. Per Deadline, this Dubek-free Night Nurse is an erotic thriller starring Mimi Rogers and Cemre Paksoy. But at least the plot resembles Other Two in sheer audacity. Set in a retirement community, the titular night nurse is beset by perverse prank phone calls. She soon learns that the call is coming from inside the house, and “her innocent flirtation blooms into a lust for deception.” Sure, but is Globby in it?
The Other Two’s prophecies have continued to come true over the last few years. In 2023, one month before Disney and Pixar announced their first nonbinary character, Elemental’s “Lake,” The Other Two invited viewers to meet “Globby,” a gay icon. Globby is a takedown of Disney’s shallow LGBTQ+ inclusion efforts, like Avengers: Endgame’s “Grieving Man” or that brief lesbian kiss in Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker. True to form, Globby’s sexuality only exists within press releases that insist he’s a “gay icon.” Lake suffered a similar fate, and the character’s gender nonconformity became another way for Disney to pat itself on the back during Pride month. More recently, the internet’s more pop-culture savvy conspiracy theorists remembered The Other Two episode in which political violence hides a flopping album. Sorry, Katy Perry, but The Other Two did it.
