The trailer for Chance The Rapper's new pizza murder movie, Slice, is a total copy of a recent viral video

We’ve been hearing things for a few years now about Slice, the upcoming pizza-based murder mystery that’s set to serve as charismatic Grammy-winner Chance The Rapper’s first real entry into the world of acting. A24 released the first teaser for the film tonight, and it’s pretty weird, showing off very little in the way of footage or plot, and a lot in the way of ripping off a recent Line Rider video that was making the rounds a few weeks ago.

Admittedly, it’s a cool video, as Edvard Grieg’s “In The Hall Of The Mountain King” plays out over a little cartoon dude on a pizza scooter gliding over computer-generated lines, while brief snippets of the movie play in the background. But it’s also very clearly based on YouTube user DoodleChaos’ insanely meticulous “Line Rider – Mountain King,” which made the front page of Reddit a few weeks ago, wowing people with its high-speed line-drawing antics. DoodleChaos even popped up in the comments for the trailer, acknowledging that everything in the Slice video was fair use, but still noting that they’re “surprised I was never told about this being made,” and “I just find it interesting they never mentioned my video as a source of the idea.”

A24 has yet to set a release date for Slice, which also stars Zazie Beetz and Paul Scheer.
