The trailer for From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series feeds off the movie

Robert Rodriguez isn’t taking any chances when it comes to letting people know he’s behind the El Rey Network, launching the fledgling cable channel with a TV version of one of his most famous movies. Similarly, this trailer for the first of those series, From Dusk Till Dawn, plays it very close to the monochromatic vest, right down to D.J. Cotrona’s Seth Gecko lifting George Clooney’s dialogue and acting tics. So why bother, especially when the show will so faithfully recreate the events and characters of the first film—except probably without Sex Machine? For one thing, there’s Don Johnson as a grizzled Texas Ranger, whose pursuit of the Gecko brothers provides a new perspective on what was a fairly confined story. For another, there’s the chance to see Wilder Valderrama feeding off others in a way that doesn’t involve his famous sexual conquests.
