Things are cold and bloody in our first look at the next season of The Handmaid's Tale

Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale is pulling down all sorts of awards at the moment, as the Golden Globes, the Critics’ Choice Awards, and all the other usual award programs recognize Elisabeth Moss and company’s ability to create the nightmarish—and nightmarishly plausible—misogynistic dystopia of Gilead. Now, Hulu is giving us our first look at the show’s upcoming second season, and it’s bad news for anyone expecting the series to suddenly veer into the realm of a cheerful hang-out show, because things are still looking cold and bloody as hell:

Hulu’s said that the show is coming back in April, although a specific release date has yet to be set. Hopefully we’ll know more—along with a possible explanation for what’s caused Offred to be drenched in blood up there—as the spring debut approaches.
