This Is 40
Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann's sweetly exhausted-with-each-other married couple provided much of the ballast in Judd Apatow's Knocked Up, so it's no surprise that Apatow would consider giving them their own movie—especially since he lives with three-fourths of their fictional family. So what happens when ballast is cut adrift, as it is in the "sort-of-sequel," This Is 40? Judging by this trailer, it becomes sort of a drag, actually, with Mann's encroaching 40th birthday sparking a midlife crisis over how the aging couple needs to start exercising more (with the help of personal trainer Jason Segel), sticking their nose into their kids' school business (such as picking fights with Melissa McCarthy), and generally trying to do more boring, normal things, normally and boringly.
Of course, Apatow's movies have always mined the banal for laughs, and a trailer, particularly a sanitized one, isn't always the best showcase for the conversational style where most of Apatow's jokes live, so fans will definitely want to give him the benefit of the doubt—especially considering it doesn't even touch on co-stars like Albert Brooks, Megan Fox, Lena Dunham, and Charlene Yi. It does have Paul Rudd looking at his taint, though. You can see Paul Rudd's taint and more in HD here.
