This montage makes the case that Ryan Gosling is one of our generation's preeminent screamers

Ryan Gosling is a paragon of effortless cool, a man able to carry a film with his smoldering gaze alone. But what the above supercut highlights is that for every silent, piercing glance, Gosling’s got a hysterical, lung-shredding caterwaul to match it.

Some are tragic screams and some are threatening, but the best ones are probably from 2016's The Nice Guys, which, beyond being one of the most under-appreciated comedies of recent years, contains one of Gosling’s most loony, unhinged performances, one that finds him proving he’s just as adept at playing the fool as he is the hunk. His shrieks in that flick embody pretty much every definition of hysterical.

So let us welcome Gosling, who now joins the likes of Jamie Lee Curtis, Sandra Peabody, Marilyn Burns, American Movie’s Mike Schank, and, our personal favorite, Linnea Quigley among our generation’s most iconic screamers.
