Toni Collette to star in Netflix and BBC monogamy drama Wanderlust

As announced in a press release, Toni Collette is set to star in a new drama produced by Netflix and the BBC called Wanderlust. Described as a “searingly insightful and funny exploration of the relationships of a multi-generational family” that “asks whether lifelong monogamy is possible or even desirable,” the show is specifically about a therapist who tries to reignite the spark in her relationship with her husband after a particularly traumatic cycling accident. Collette will play the therapist, who is semi-ironically named Joy, and the press release says the show will also introduce her “family, friends, neighbors, and clients,” and it will tell “remarkable yet relatable stories of love, lust, and forbidden desire.”

Wanderlust was written by playwright Nick Payne, who is making his TV debut here, and it will be directed by Luke Snellin. The show will consist of six hour-long episodes, and though the press release doesn’t have a premiere window, The Hollywood Reporter says the show just started filming.
