Trailer for Disney's live-action Nutcracker turns predictably dark and spooky
This trailer for Disney’s The Nutcracker And The Four Realms kicks off like every other recent live-action Disney movie, with a fantastical fairy tale setting and a friendly older person (Morgan Freeman) setting the scene, but things quickly turn ominous and strange. The trailer even mentions the classic Nutcracker story having “a dark side,” so you know exactly what kind of adaptation this is going to be. It’s all very Chronicles Of Narnia, but with a Christmas vibe instead of general Bible stuff, and it even takes a moment to feature an actual ballet in the middle of the alternate universe action.
The Nutcracker And The Four Realms was directed by Lasse Hällstrom, and it stars Mackenzie Foy, Keira Knightley, and Helen Mirren. It’ll be in theaters next November—almost in time for next Christmas.
