Maybe a three-part reunion will spice up Vanderpump Rules
The ho-hum post-Scandovol season promises a big finale
After last year’s culture-breaking season of Vanderpump Rules, there was much concern over how it would follow up. Could the show pull itself from the wreckage of Scandoval, and more importantly, could it do so without one of its key players? The answer across these last 14 weeks has been, eh, whatever.
It’s been a pretty dull year in Valley Village with Ariana and Tom continuing their weird living situation, Tom and Jo’s adorkable will-they-won’t-they, and Schena doing anything in her power to get something resembling a story going. Without Rachel “Raquel” Leviss, the show leaned on Tom Sandoval to play the role of sympathetic villain that no one really wanted to sympathize with (though his attempts at single life were pretty funny). But ultimately, there just isn’t a lot going on, and some things, like Lala’s water tasting and Tom and Katie dating the same woman, feel too staged even for Bravo. The show is on life support, despite the occasional electrical charge of Jax Taylor to shock its heart. To wit, Jax’s show, The Valley, has been everything Vanderpump used to be, e.g., a bunch of Hollywood tryhards and wannabes being manipulated by Taylor.
But since this is Bravo, reunite they must, and Andy Cohen is promising a doozy of a reunion special this year. Below is the first trailer for the three-part reunion finale, which seemingly hints at the show’s end. Apparently, there’s some secret footage none of them have seen, but it will make them quite emotional. Sadly, it’s the same place we’ve been all season. Maybe there really is no fixing this friend group.
The finale of Vanderpump Rules airs tomorrow, May 7. The three-part finale, which will air weekly, begins May 14.
