Transparent gets a new showrunner
As reported by Deadline, Transparent creator Jill Soloway will be stepping down from their showrunner duties for the show’s fifth season—which will premiere next year on Amazon Prime. Soloway will be sticking around to write, direct, and executive produce Transparent, but the actual showrunning will be handled by Jill Gordon (creator of NBC’s Heartbeat, and a veteran of The Wonder Years, My So-Called Life, 90210, and Doogie Howser, M.D.). This announcement comes as Soloway has become increasingly busy with their work at Amazon, co-creating/executive producing I Love Dick and developing a limited series about an all-girl rodeo.
Transparent’s fourth season, which will still feature Soloway as showrunner, will premiere on September 22. Amazon renewed the show for its fifth season—the one that will have Jill Gordon—in late August.
