When Taylor Swift wrote “I think about jumping off of very tall somethings” in her 1989 vault track “It It Over Now?,” was she really dropping an easter egg for the announcement that survival thriller Fall is becoming a franchise? Maybe!

Whether or not Taylor Swift had any secret insight—or anyone even asked for this in the first place—the 2022 B-movie about two girls who climb up a tall, rusty, abandoned TV tower to mourn one of their husbands for… some reason is getting two more sequels presumably about more people climbing up (and falling off of) very tall somethings also for… some reason. You’d think these characters would have learned their lesson and stopped climbing up stuff for no good reason, but alas. Maybe the guy from Free Solo could explain it to us.

This comes via The Hollywood Reporter, which also reported that original co-writer and director Scott Mann is returning to produce both sequels. He will also be co-writing and directing the third film in the trilogy.

“I am thrilled to be continuing the Fall journey and taking it to the next level,” Mann said in a statement (presumably with a visible wink at that last turn of phrase). “We’ve got a really special cinematic experience planned and I’m immensely grateful to my fellow producers for backing the vision. I’m also excited to be working with new collaborators as well as reuniting with the original gang, and obviously can’t wait to be back filming thousands of feet up.”

The original gang—most notably at least one of the two characters from the original film played by Grace Caroline Currey and Virginia Gardner (we won’t spoil which one)—will indeed be returning for at least one of the sequels, which again begs the question: how many tall things are enough? Why won’t these girls just go to therapy—or at least take up a less dangerous hobby—instead? We just don’t understand!
