Warner Bros. cancels Blade Runner 2049 red carpet after Las Vegas shooting

Earlier today, Open Road Films announced that it would be canceling the Las Vegas premiere of Marshall, the Chadwick Boseman-starring Thurgood Marshall biopic, in the wake of the city’s recent mass shooting. Now, Warner Bros. is doing the same for this week’s Blade Runner 2049 premiere event in Hollywood, with the studio releasing a statement saying it will no longer be holding the usual red carpet festivities. Instead, there will most likely be a smaller Blade Runner 2049 screening for the filmmakers, cast, and special invited guests. This comes from Deadline, which says that an after-party will most likely be canceled as well.

You can see Warner Bros. full statement below.

In light of the tragic events of last night, Warner Bros. Pictures, Sony Pictures and Alcon Entertainment are cancelling the red carpet for tomorrow’s screening of Blade Runner 2049. We join the rest of the country in sending heartfelt thoughts and prayers to all those affected by this tragedy.
