The Golden Globes are back for 2024, embarking on a new chapter, and the show will air on CBS on Sunday, January 7 at 8 PM ET/5 PM PT. The ceremony will also stream on the Paramount+ app, and on the CBS app. Jo Koy will host the ceremony for the first time (after the organization reportedly struggled to find someone to take up the job).

The award show broadcast was canceled in 2022 in the wake of lawsuits and reports that the Hollywood Foreign Press Association existed to give its 87 members preferential treatment from studios. Months later, it was also reported that the organization didn’t have a single Black member. Though the ceremony continued on, two years ago, it was done without TV cameras, while last year NBC picked up the broadcast once again.

For 2024, the Globes have made some changes. The HFPA itself has been dissolved, and the Golden Globes relaunched as a for-profit organization. There are new categories this year, including Best Stand-Up Comedian on Television and “Cinematic and Box Office Achievement in Motion Pictures.” They have also moved on from their longtime NBC home to a new network.

2024 marks the first time the award show has aired on CBS since a brief, two-year stint in 1981 and 1982. NBC had hosted the show from 1996 until 2023 (minus the 2022 interruption).

Barbie and Succession both lead the pack of nominees with nine nominations each; Oppenheimer followed close behind with eight, while Poor Things racked up seven. On the TV side, The Bear, Only Murders In The Building, and the (maybe?) final season of Ted Lasso all had strong showings. You can check out the full list of nominees here.
