Will Ferrell and Molly Shannon to bicker their way through the Rose Parade for Amazon this year

Will Ferrell and Molly Shannon played any number of cheerfully dysfunctional weirdos during their time on Saturday Night Live, whether it was the pit-sniffing superstardom of Mary Catherine Gallagher, or the endlessly smiling lameness of hit-mangling music teacher Marty Culp. Now, the duo are applying their endless reserves of fake smiles and real insecurities to the upcoming New Year’s festivities, with Amazon announcing today that it’s partnering with the duo (and Funny Or Die) for its own take on the annual Rose Bowl parade.

The company’s press release doesn’t mention Shannon or Ferrell by name; instead, the project is being promoted as The 2018 Rose Parade Hosted By Cord & Tish, starring veteran local news parade hosts Cord Hosenbeck and Tish Cattigan. (A.k.a. Ferrell in a bald cap, and Shannon giving her best take on a brittle former beauty queen.) Amazon released a trailer for the special—which’ll stream live on Amazon Prime on New Year’s Day 2018, at 10 a.m. Central—earlier today, showing the kind of increasingly pissy bickering the two will delight in once the event itself kicks off.
